About Us

Hello! My name is Steven Pratt. My wife Heather and I are the founders and owners of Pratt’s Professional Chimney Service. After serving 10 years of honorable service in the U.S. Navy, I decided to try something new. My children were getting older and I was missing out on large parts of their childhood. Being stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes, we found we loved this area and wanted to stay.

After thinking of an interest in work, I found an opening at a local chimney service company owned by a fireman. After working for him for 5 years, he decided to retire. Loving what I did, I wasn’t ready to give it up, so I decided to start my own chimney cleaning and inspection company. I have always treated people and lived by the same principles that made me a very successful member of the U.S. Navy.

I instill these principles in every employee; I believe that if we are honest, work hard, operate with integrity, and genuinely care about other people, you will find success in whatever you chose to do in life. In return, this has led to great success for our family owned business.

My wife and I settled down right on the Illinois/Wisconsin state line around the Antioch/Bristol area. Our kids attend Central High School, and we all love the local community. Our small, family-owned status allows us to serve both Northeast Illinois and Southeast Wisconsin. With our home divided; half Bears fans and half Packers fans, it works out pretty well there too.

We have been Nationally Certified since 1997, and are members of the National Chimney Sweep Guild. We have an A+ BBB rating, as well as an A rating on Angie. Check out our reviews on Google, Angie, and Yelp -  you will see what we are so proud of.

The majority of our employees have served our country in one way or another, either ex-military or some currently still serving in the Reserves and National Guard. I believe that our employees’ ambition to serve others gets carried over to our customers.
